Become an Elected Student Officer!

The Students' Union's officer election season is approaching again. Polling to elect the Union's student officers for the 2013-14 academic year will take place over three days - from Tuesday 5 March 2013 to Thursday 7 March 2013.
Maybe you've already decided that you're definitely going to put your name forward this year? Perhaps you are a bit curious about what is involved in running for election, or just want to learn what being an elected student officer is all about. Well, here's your chance to find out!
Why not attend one of the student officer elections information sessions that are coming up? You'll be able to find out everything that you need to know about putting yourself forward for election and, if you're fortunate enough to be elected, what being a student officer actually entails. What's the workload? How can I help students? What's the pay? Will it result in fame and fortune? That sort of thing!
The purpose of these information sessions is to create a greater sense of awareness about the electoral process and to encourage greater participation in the elections. We hope that these sessions will stimulate even more interest in the March elections and we're aiming to attract as many candidates for each student officer post as possible. We want each student officer post to be contested in order to drive the electoral turnout up and give the winning candidates even more validity.
So why not come along to an information session and, at the very least, find out a bit more about the elections, the officer posts and the workload that is involved? You might come away deciding that you want to be an elected student officer, or you might come away thinking of someone who you could recommend to be student officer.
Information sessions will take place in the Anne Maguire Room, Students' Union at the following times (please note that you only need to sign up to one of these sessions):
Tuesday 5 February 2013 at 5.45 p.m.
Thursday 7 February 2013 at 1.10 p.m.
Monday 11 February 2013 at 1.10 p.m.
Please note that these information sessions are aimed at students who have never been an elected student officer at Queen’s before.
