1 February 13

Do you have the voice to represent 24,000 students?  –Nominations for Student Officer Elections opened today at 2pm!

The Students' Union's officer election season is approaching again. Nominations for election open on Monday 11 February 2013 at 2pm and close on Monday 25 February 2013 at 5pm.  Polling to elect the Union's Student Officers for the 2013-14 academic year will take place over three days - from Tuesday 5 March 2013 to Thursday 7 March 2013.

This is a great opportunity to get involved in the running of the Students’ Union and to develop your transferrable skills.  Standing for election gives you the chance to be a leader, and make real decisions in an organisation with a turnover in the region of £5 million.  You have the opportunity to stand up for student members and make a real difference to their lives – to change the things that you have always complained about. There is huge variety in the role, with the opportunity to have lots of fun with campaigns, events and activities.  And, if you are successful, you will be in a position to gain a wide range of skills and transferable work experience that would be the envy of graduates everywhere.

Standing for election is a unique experience, one that you will remember for the rest of your life – you get to develop your teamwork, leadership, communication and campaigning skills – while creating debate and promoting issues you are passionate about.

If any of this interests you, and you would like more information about becoming an elected student officer, please email d.t.doherty@qub.ac.uk in confidence.
