Burglary Warning

There have been a number of burglaries in the student area.

Please take steps to secure your property now!

Going Out?

When you go out, even for just a few minutes make sure all the doors and windows are closed and locked. Remember no window is too high for a thief to get through.

Ensure laptops and other valuables are out of sight not only when you are out but when

• you have friends around
• have a party
• last thing at night before going to bed.

Shared Accommodation

When you are going out ensure you lock the doors and windows. Don’t assume someone else will do it. Keep the door to your own room locked especially when you are not at home.

Protect your property

To increase you chances of getting stolen property back

Download and activate a Security Application (App) to your mobile phone, tablet and laptop so it can be located.  Register you property at www.immobilise.com. You can up load photos of valuables and register

• Descriptions of your property.
• Serial numbers of electronics good
• If you have a bicycle, register it’s unique frame number.

Register your mobile phone’s unique 15 digit imei number with your phone company. (You can find it under the battery or by dialing *#06# ) Mark all your valuable items with your home postcode using an ultra-violet (UV) pen.

Nights / Weekends / Holidays

If you are going out at night or away for the weekend don’t discuss your plans in public. Don’t leave any electronic or high value goods in your student accommodation, bring them with you. Secure the keys to your house and car at night. If you have a burglar alarm, set it when you go out and when you go to bed at night.
