‘Are Ye Well?’ Welfare Campaign

Your Students’ Union and Student Officer Welfare, Tiernan McAteer have launched a major new welfare campaign, called Are Ye Well?, that aims to raise awareness of the help, advice, and support that is available to help Queen’s students cope with everyday issues in university life and proactively prevent problems that can affect their well being. We want to make sure that all students can be happy, healthy, and have an awesome time at Queen’s.

We have set up lots of ‘Are Ye Well?’ events across campus throughout the academic year and invited some really rather lovely experts to come along to offer their advice and expertise – for free!

We are in the MBC on Tuesday, 11 Feb from 10am to 2pm, and we encourage you to come along. We will have expert advice on looking after your mental, physical, and sexual health, money management, and sexual awareness.  Check out just some of the eager experts who will be there and ready to help:

Students’ Union Advice Centre 
It’s National Student Money Week. Come along and say hello to find out more about how to manage your money more effectively and pick up some freebies,  including:

  • Spending Diary
  • Money Stress Ball
  • Budget Planners 

You can pick up some handy money saving ideas too, including the ever popular ‘Save a Bunch - Pack a Lunch’  which  shows you how to make five healthy packed lunches for under a tenner. And, if you are really concerned about your financial situation, the Students Union Money Management Adviser, Debbie, will be on hand to answer your money questions and provide information on the University Support Fund

Queen's University Health 
Grab the chance to come along and get a free health check. Once its done the doctors and nurses will be able to assess and monitor your health needs and offer appropriate treatments. Easy!

Carecall
Carecall is your independent, confidential student counselling service, available to all part-time and full-time students.  If you would to find out more, or need some advice, the Carecall experts will be here for you

Students’ Union Enterprise and Volunteering
The team is eager and ready to tell you all about the enterprise and volunteering opportunities there are on offer, which will fill you to the brim with business know-how and  real world experience. You will land your dream job in no time!

Queen’s Sport
The facilities at Queen's Sport are second to none. Whatever your interest, performance sport or just recreation, there’s something for everyone.  Pop along to the stall to find out all you need to know and more about:

  • Membership Packages
  • Fun free sports on campus
  • Try Sport – weekly taster drop-in sessions 

Cancer Focus Stop Smoking
Cancer  Focus  Northern  Ireland  is offering  students  a  FREE stop smoking service!! Don’t miss out on your chance to sign up to a  FREE  9-12  week  Stop  Smoking  Program, which will be held right here in your Students’ Union  on  Wednesday  afternoons , from 12 - 5pm in Club Room 2.
The 12 week program starts on 12 February and covers:

Motivational Support
Helping to build confidence needed to stop

Behavioural Support
Helping to break habits and emotional dependence on cigarettes

Nicotine Replacement Therapy
Provision of FREE Nicotine Replacement Therapy such as, patches and gum

If you can't make it to the stall on Tuesday and are interested in stopping smoking, please email your name and contact number to  suzyokane@cancerfocusni.org by 28 February.  Students will be allocated their own time slot to attend the program, organised at a time to suit.
