Radar - The Wood Burning Savages, In Their Thousands and Down To Level

4 March 14

Join us for Radar in The Speakeasy this Thursday!

This week we have The Wood Burning Savages, In Their Thousands and Down To Level

The Wood Burning Savages

The Wood Burning Savages burst onto the live scene in early 2012.

Since then they have constructed a formidable and supremely energetic catalogue of songs, regularly played as main support to a variety of established Irish acts, garnering praise from Alternative Ulster’s Magazine live reviewers and being played often on several BBC Radio Ulster programs and Dave Fanning's RTÉ 2FM show.

Their live performances have been a talking point - eclectic sets involving powerful vocals, 60's fuzz guitar hooks, and an explosive rhythm section. Having just returned from writing and gigging abroad, the band is in the midst of a string of summer festival performances around Ireland. With a full length release in the pre-production stages, expect great things from the band as they head into 2014.

"Great new band from the North" - Dave Fanning, RTE 2FM.

"The Woodburning Savages mix snarling, bloodlust rock n roll archetypes with gloriously incongruous and wildly inventive melodic ideas. A passionate one-off!" -Stephen McCauley, BBC Radio

In Their Thousands

In Their Thousands formed in May 2011 in Co. Donegal. The McClafferty brothers Aidan & Declan and their cousin Ruairí Friel rented a house in the sleepy village of Ramelton and started writing, recording and rehearsing original material. Over the course of the year, friend Liam Kelly joined the band on bass and the project became ‘In Their Thousands’.

The band’s sound is diverse - from stunning vocal harmony laced acoustic acapella folk to edgy electric alternative rock in a seamless progression.

The band is honed from a hectic festival circuit that seen them perform at Electric Picnic, Westport Festival of Music & Food, Knockanstockan, Vantastival, Glasgowbury and more!
